Academic Year 2026-27

Toast Party For our phonics sound 't', we celebrated with a special toast party! The children were very excited and enjoyed talking to one another about the different toppings they have had on toast before and which ones were their favourites. They shared their experiences and listened carefully to the ideas of their friends, developing their speaking and listening skills.

The children had a choice of butter, jam or honey for their toast. Everyone took turns carefully spreading their chosen topping, showing good independence and developing their fine motor skills. We talked about how to use the knives safely and worked together to prepare our snack.

Once the toast was ready, we all sat together and enjoyed eating our tasty treat. The children loved the experience and were enthusiastic about trying different toppings. It was a wonderful way to reinforce our phonics learning while encouraging conversation, independence and social skills. (October 2026)

Drawing Club has become a real highlight of our week and the children have shown a huge enthusiasm for taking part. We begin each week by sharing a story, which provides the inspiration for our learning. During the first session, the children spend time talking about the characters, sharing their ideas and developing their understanding of the story. In the second session, we focus on a problem within the story, encouraging the children to think creatively and suggest solutions.

The children have enjoyed Drawing Club so much that many of them are eager to take part at the same time. After drawing their ideas, they add a "secret button" and write a special code. The children love explaining what their code does, often creating imaginative outcomes that transform the story in exciting ways. (October 2026)
