Sculpture Park - June 2018
As part of our topic 'The Great Outdoors'
we started of our Arts Week with a whole school trip to
'the Sculpture Park in Churt'
to gain ideas and inspiration for the coming week.
The children enjoyed looking at the approximate 800 sculptures and noticed that a wide variety of materials was used from tiles to marbles and from horseshoes to bronze.
The children were asked to be ‘Sculpture Detectives’ and investigate the different types of birds and animal sculptures.
Some of the children returned with a list of over 50 animals!!
‘Although it was a very hot day, the shade in the Sculpture Park kept us relatively cool. It was a wonderful sound to listen to the birds and the squeals of delight from the children when they discovered another amazing sculpture.’
The Sculpture Park kindly offered not to charge entrance fee (as is family of one of the pupils)
and the cost of the coach was donated by the PTA
