British Values
British Values Statement
As directed under Ofsted guidance, we at St. Andrew’s C. of E. Infant School take opportunities to actively promote British Values, defined by the government as the following:
- Democracy
- The rule of law
- Individual liberty
- Mutual respect
- Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
These British values are embedded in our school ethos, taught through our curriculum, demonstrated through our daily school life and modelled by our school staff. Actively promoting also means challenging pupils, staff or parents expressing opinions contrary to fundamental British Values, including ‘extremist’ views. We have a climate where pupils feel safe and secure, and maximise their fulfillment of potential.
Pupil voice plays an integral part in driving the school forward and school rules at different levels are seen as the foundation upon which this can be achieved. Our children’s behaviour and tolerances are congratulated by visitors to the school and during outings into the community.
