Governors' Role

The governing body of the school is currently made up of 14 governors. They include Monique Clark, our Headteacher, Chris Hyland, our Chair of governors, staff governors, parent governors, foundation governors & a local authority governor. The staff governors are elected by the teachers and support staff, the parent governors are elected by parents and the foundation governors are appointed by the Diocese.

The governing body has three main roles; to provide strategic direction for the school, to act as a critical friend to the headteacher and to ensure accountability.

Full governing body meetings and other meetings are held at least once a term and on an ad-hoc basis as the need arises. Recent meetings have involved approving the budget for the new financial year, looking at the options for a new school website and online payment facility, an update on the progress being made towards the refurbishment of the children's toilets and outdoor play area and working on the School Development Plan - which details the steps being taken to raise the standards of the school. We are also reviewing our own training needs, ensuring that the skills of the individual governors are being used effectively and that as a group we have received sufficient training to meet the needs of the school.
